I first heard Twanda’s poetry at my job for one of our “Black History” events. Her poetry is very powerful, inspiring, and brings tears of joy to the eyes. It leaves you with an everlasting feeling of encouragement and pride. Her poetry left me wanting to hear more and more. I invited Ms. King to recite her poetry at one of our “Career Day” events held at DuVal High School. The students were not only moved by her poetry, but gave her a standing ovation, not once, but twice.

When an individual can grasp the attention of high school students and the students receive them with open arms and gratitude, that tells you a lot about the person’s character. I am blessed to have heard Ms. King’s poetry and I applaud her in all her endeavors.

I secured Twanda as my Lifestyle Design Strategist. Over the time we worked together as what Twanda terms it “Co-Creative Partners,” I achieved some amazing results. When we first got started, I did not have a clear idea of what I wanted to do. Twanda helped me to discover my mission. Once we discovered my mission, I had no idea how I was going to achieve it. Twanda’s program was packed with exciting, creative and bold approaches to helping me reach my goals. She definitely pushed me beyond my comfort zone which allowed me to meet new people, have new and unique experiences and achieve my goals. When my mother passed away at the end of 2008, I wanted her funeral to be memorable. I had heard Twanda’s poetry during an event held at my office and was aware of her unique talent. I met with Twanda to describe my mother’s life and the great moments we shared. From that, Twanda created and presented a poem that made us feel like my mother was in the room. The audience was moved by Twanda’s creativity, and it appeared that she knew my mother all her life although she had never met her before. Twanda’s poem was heartfelt, and I am so thankful for her contribution to my mother’s farewell celebration.
